PEOPLE & PARTNERSHIP
The V.K. Nyambi Foundation firmly believes in the power of collaboration with supporters, sponsors, and partners, including Goodwill ambassadors, governments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), corporate partners, volunteers, and donors, to significantly impact humanitarian relief work. The financial contributions and partnerships with governmental and non-governmental organizations are invaluable in saving lives.
Our donors and volunteers are the backbone of the V.K. Nyambi Foundation’s relief work, and we are grateful for their generosity and dedication. Together, we are part of a global humanitarian movement working tirelessly to help end the HIV epidemic worldwide. Thanks to advancements in science, HIV is no longer a death sentence. Through transformative innovation and culturally affirming care, we can continue to change the way HIV impacts lives, helping people live longer and healthier lives.
However, we recognize that there is still work to be done to address the deep-rooted stigma and discrimination, prejudices, implicit biases, mass misinformation, and homophobic tendencies that continue to hinder our progress. We believe that by working together, we can ignite and inspire action, making a difference in the lives of people affected by HIV and ultimately helping to end the HIV epidemic for everyone globally.
WHO WE ARE
The V.K. Nyambi Foundation Inc. is a non-profit organization with a 501c status created in 2005. The V.K. Nyambi Foundation Inc. is headquartered in Capitol Heights, Maryland, U.S.A. The Foundation has also been operational in different regions in Cameroon (Africa) since 2005 through its satellite office in Bamenda, Cameroon. The Foundation satellite office was also created under Law No: 90/053 of 12/19/1990 on freedom of Associations in Cameroon and declared by the Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam under declaratory No: 0054/E.29/1111/VOL.8/APPB in 2005.
The purpose of the Foundation is to support and empower orphans and children orphaned because of HIV/AIDS, persons living with HIV/AIDS, widows, and foster youths, and alleviation of food insecurity and health disparities in the U.S.A. and globally.
The Foundation encourages research in science by offering awards under the Dr. Robert Gallo Award for Academic Excellence in Science to the best students in the General Certificate of Education in Cameroon in particular. In honor of Dr. Robert Gallo, our 2014 Global Humanitarian Award Recipient, who is best known for his co-discovery of H.I.V., Gallo and his team pioneered the development of the H.I.V. blood test, which enabled healthcare workers for the first time to screen for the AIDS virus. His research also helped physicians develop H.I.V. therapies to prolong the lives of those infected. In 1996, his discovery that a natural compound known as chemokines can block H.I.V. and halt the progression of AIDS was hailed by Science magazine as one of that year’s most important scientific breakthroughs.
The selection criterion for this prestigious Award is purely based on academic merit. The Foundation collaborates with the Cameroon General Certificate of Education (G.C.E.) Board, and the Francophone equivalent of G.C.E. A-Levels The “Baccalaureate” to identify six students who scored the maximum points in all science subjects in this high school examination and, as a result, will receive this prestigious Award. The recipients are awarded a Trophy and a monetary scholarship of $250.00 each to assist in their academic pursuits toward science.
In addition to providing educational tools and promoting talents and vocational training, the Foundation also focuses on spreading awareness on various topics relating to career and entrepreneurship empowerment, counseling, mentoring, and guidance to youths in many ways that will positively influence their future.

OUR VISION is to connect, collaborate, and empower the community and work towards a holistic approach to health and wellness that embraces diversity, inclusion, and health equity.
OUR MISSION is to increase outreach for HIV education and testing and promote education on healthy lifestyle choices to achieve the highest level of health for all people. We work towards integrating HIV prevention services and addressing social determinants of health, regardless of HIV status, to improve health equity and break down barriers to care.
OUR COMMITMENT: We are committed to helping low-income, non-English-speaking individuals, immigrants, and minorities receive the necessary care. We partner with other community organizations to connect people to additional resources and support within the community. Internationally, we contribute to reducing poverty among orphans, street children, and other underprivileged individuals. We do this by providing formal education and vocational training, which allows them to become self-reliant. We cover training, equipment, and school fees for those enrolled in schools or vocational training programs. We also partner with small business owners who take on orphans as apprentices at no training fee.
